PCB selection committee decides to give Sharjeel Khan a chance in home T20 series against tour of South Africa

Sharjeel Khan likely to return to international cricket soon, the PCB selection committee decided to give Sharjeel Khan a chance in the home T20 series against South Africa. According to sources, the PCB has hinted at giving Sharjeel Khan a second chance in international cricket.

Sharjeel Khan could get a chance in the home series against South Africa. Aggressive batsmen have been away from international cricket for three years. Also, the Pakistan team management has decided to give a chance to fast bowler Hassan Ali, Test opener Imam-ul-Haq, and Karachi middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel in the scheduled home Test series against South Africa later this month.

Hassan Ali, 26, has been unfit since the 2019 World Cup when Imam-ul-Haq suffered a fractured thumb during practice in New Zealand. Saud Shakeel, 25, will be part of the Pakistani team for the first time. Sources said that a proposal has been made to drop Test opener Shaun Masood, fast-bowler Naseem Shah, and all-rounder Zafar Gohar from the national team for the Test series.

Shaun Masood could score only 10 runs at the worst average of 2.50 in the series against New Zealand while Naseem Shah could also take only 4 wickets. Zafar Gohar endured 159 runs in his debut Test but could not take any wicket. Senior middle-order batsman Asad Shafiq is unlikely to return for the Test series against South Africa. Misbah-ul-Haq and Babar Azam have held preliminary talks with the new chief selector Muhammad Waseem regarding the team selection, but the final decision will be taken in a meeting after reaching Lahore from New Zealand.
