The Prime Minister directed the closure of madrassas across the country
Why are madrassas open when all educational institutions are
closed? A report was sought from the Federal Minister of Education
The Prime Minister directed to close madrassas across the
country. If all educational institutions are closed, why are madrassas open? A
report was sought from the Federal Minister of Education. According to details,
Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of non-closure of registered madrassas in
the country due to Corona virus. According to media reports, Prime Minister
Imran Khan has sought an answer from Federal Minister for Education Shafqat
Mahmood regarding religious madrassas.
On learning of the opening of the madrassas, the Prime
Minister asked why all the educational institutions in the country were closed
in view of the corona virus. After taking notice from the Prime Minister, the
Federal Ministry of Education has contacted the non-closed religious madrassas
across the country.
The Ministry of Education has contacted the religious
madrassas and directed that the madrassas be closed as per the SOPs.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood
will brief the Prime Minister on the steps taken regarding madrassas. It should
be noted that due to the second wave of corona virus in the country, the
federal government, in consultation with all the provinces, had closed
educational institutions across the country last month. The federal Ministry of
Education and provincial governments have announced that private and public
educational institutions will reopen on January 12. However, the madrassa
administration refused to accept the decision of the federal and provincial governments
and kept the madrassas open. Last week, the Sindh government ordered the
closure of madrassas, which the madrassa administration flatly refused to
comply with. In this situation, the Prime Minister has now taken notice and
directed that the madrassas be closed
