The Election Commission has started preparations for the early Senate elections

The Election Commission has started preparations for early Senate elections. According to the report of a private TV channel, the Election Commission of Pakistan has got the green signal to hold early Senate elections. According to the report, the PDM has a plan to block the Senate elections. Opposition alliance chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had announced a few days ago to break up the Electoral College for the Senate elections.

The opposition intends to resign from the assemblies and break up the Senate election electoral college. It has been reported that more than 50 opposition senators will retire in March. If the opposition senators resign this month, the Election Commission will have to hold by-elections in the Senate and those who become senators as a result of these elections will be part of the Senate for only a few days.

In all these circumstances, the Election Commission has now started preparations for holding the Senate elections in February instead of March. Legally, it is possible to hold elections 30 days before the retirement of the senators, so it is possible that Senate elections may be held on or after February 15. The opposition coalition is likely to lose most of the seats in the Senate elections, after which the PTI will gain a majority in the National Assembly as well as in the Senate.

After gaining a majority in the Senate, the PTI will be in a position to legislate easily and without opposition. That is why the opposition is trying to keep the government away from winning the Senate elections, while the government has also devised a strategy to thwart the opposition's plan.
